Held in Higashikawa Town, Hokkaido, HIGASHIKAWA AUTUMN ECO TRAIL 2026 is a trail running event set in the Kitoushi Forest, home to wild birds, where participants challenge their personal limits and nature. Reaching its 3rd edition in 2026, the event is held on a Saturday, offering a schedule that allows participants to relax and fully enjoy Higashikawa Town. Categories are available for a wide range of age groups from toddlers to seniors, allowing participants to cross age barriers and enjoy trail running while taking in the autumn nature of Kitoushi under the theme 'Challenge the Forest.' As the final trail running race of the year in Hokkaido, it aims to be a competition where every participant can thoroughly enjoy autumn trail running against the backdrop of Kitoushi Forest Park. Guest runners include Kensuke Ogasawara and Koichiro Suzuki, who represented Japan at the Asia Pacific Trail Running Championships 2026, as well as Yukabayashi, a former corporate team runner and YouTuber. Participation prizes include an original sleeveless shirt and a discount coupon for Kitoron onsen bathing. Coupons for local businesses in Higashikawa Town are also planned to be provided, allowing runners to experience the charm of the town. Event information from the race office will be notified by email, and baggage storage and concessions will be available. Medical services with doctors and nurses on site are also in place. Visitors may also have the opportunity to experience local specialties including Higashikawa Rice, grown with abundant natural groundwater. Around the venue, there are many stylish cafes and outdoor shops, drawing many visitors on weekends. It is a 30-minute drive to the Asahidake Ropeway, the gateway to Daisetsuzan, and offers good access to Biei and Furano, making sightseeing before and after the event convenient.
