About this event
This traditional event is said to originate from a taiko drum dance dedicated approximately 700 years ago by Genji samurai warriors praying for victory in battle and continued military fortunes. Local residents holding folding fans surround large taiko drums and gongs, dedicating "Kake-odori," "Hiki-odori," and "Rei-odori" in succession. The elegant dancing accompanied by singing captivates onlookers. Designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property of the city, it is a festival where visitors can deeply experience local history and culture.
