About this event
The Wara River has won the Grand Prix four times at the 'Seiryu Meguri Kiki Ayu-kai' contest deciding Japan's most delicious sweetfish (ayu). Upstream, there are rivers teeming with surprising numbers of fish and mystical lakes surrounded by greenery. This farm stay experience tour allows guests to stay in private homes in the Nishi-Wara district living alongside these beautiful rivers and lakes, enjoying the region's charms while learning from local residents. It offers an authentic native experience made possible only through the cooperation of local people. The tour centers around river play activities in the Wara River, a paradise for fish. Even beginners can catch an astonishing number of fish in this river, fully enjoying a summer packed with fishing. Life jackets are worn even in shallow water, ensuring safety for families with children. Participants will also prepare and enjoy a BBQ featuring the local dish 'Keichan' together, and experience a test of courage in an abandoned school. Furthermore, volunteer activities such as harvesting jumbo garlic and assisting with sorting work are included, along with souvenirs. As an optional tour, canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on Lake Onidani are also available. On Day 1, after check-in, an opening ceremony and orientation are held, followed by the river play experience. Afterwards, participants prepare and enjoy a Keichan BBQ dinner together. At night, a test of courage takes place at the abandoned school, followed by free time and bedtime. On Day 2, after breakfast, participants join a garlic-sorting volunteer activity at Shibano Farm, followed by the conclusion of the experience and a closing ceremony.
