Meiho Forest and Eco-Cycle Workshop 2026 (Hunting Camp)

Held in Meiho, Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, the "Meiho Forest and Eco-Cycle Workshop 2026" is a hands-on workshop to connect rich satoyama to the future. In this event, a "Tree Planting Festival" will be held to develop areas where thinning and logging have been carried out as a "Regeneration Forest" and plant new trees. You can take on the challenge of tree planting while learning how to use saws and chainsaws from lumberjacks, and attach a sign to the tree you planted yourself. In addition, you can enjoy a venison lunch at midday. It is recommended for those interested in nature experiences and community building, and those who wish to have nature experiences with children. Throughout the year, satoyama terraced rice field conservation, utilization of thinned wood, charcoal kiln repair, deer antler crafting, and a "Hunting Camp" in November are scheduled, aiming to foster the forest's eco-cycle and pass down the region's nature and culture to the next generation. Along with the work, being able to interact with local people and experience life unique to satoyama is also an attractive feature.
