About this event
Held annually in August, the "Biei Dokanto Agricultural Festival" is a festival that marks the end of summer in Biei Town, praying for a bountiful harvest and thriving business. In addition to agricultural and livestock products from Biei being sold on the spot at affordable prices, various programs can be enjoyed, such as regional competitive championships and stage shows. The large-pot tonjiru (pork miso soup), a popular menu item made by JA Biei staff and local farming mothers that draws long lines every year, will also make an appearance. A merchandise booth from Nachikatsuura Town in Wakayama Prefecture, a friendship city, will also be set up. In the evening, costume Bon Odori and costume parades will take place, concluding the festival finale with launched fireworks. Held at a special venue in front of Biei Station, it offers excellent access, just about a 1-minute walk from JR Biei Station.
