Mount Tokachi Taisho Eruption Centennial Project: Special Lecture

About this event

Marking the milestone of 100 years since the Taisho eruption of Mount Tokachi, a special lecture will be held to ensure natural disasters are not forgotten. The history of the eruption and recovery, as well as the 'feelings' of the predecessors, will be passed on to us living in the present. In Kamifurano, the setting of Ayako Miura's masterpiece novels 'Mudflow Zone' and 'Mudflow Zone: The Sequel', this will be a valuable opportunity to deeply understand past events through messages from the novels and gain lessons for the future. In the lecture, Director Aya Tanaka of the Ayako Miura Literature Museum will serve as the lecturer, speaking about memories of the eruption and stories rooted in the region. This lecture is free to attend, with a capacity of 200 participants (on a first-come, first-served basis), and is organized by the Kamifurano Town Board of Education.
