About this event

This is a traditional summer festival held in Tenryu Ward, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, with history dating back to the late Edo period. As North Enshu's leading festival, its greatest highlight is the dynamic hauling of large festival floats (o-yatai). Twelve large floats adorned with elaborate wood carvings and luxurious embroidery parade through the town, praying for family safety. The sounds of drums and flutes played by children riding aboard the floats echo throughout the town. Between the processions of the main floats, hana-yatai (flower floats) are also paraded, allowing visitors to enjoy themselves all day long. During the festival period, Clover-dori Shopping Street becomes a pedestrian paradise, where you can fully savor the festival atmosphere while tasting food stall gourmet. Held over 3 days consisting of the Evening/Eve Festival, Main Festival, and Return Festival, the entire town is enveloped in a festive mood. The use of public transportation is recommended, and the venue is accessible on foot from Futamata-Hommachi Station or Tenryu-Futamata Station on the Tenryu Hamanako Railroad.
