About this event

"The Miracle of Buddhist Statues III: San-En-Shun Buddhist and Shinto All-Stars" is an exhibition that brings together 30 statues of Buddha and Shinto deities associated with the Buddhist cultural sphere of Enshu, Higashi-Mikawa, and Suruga. It also includes newly discovered works from the latest research and works that provided new insights. During the exhibition period, multiple lectures will be held on themes such as Japanese wooden sculptures, deities and Buddhas of Oku-Mikawa, and Buddhist statues in Shizuoka Prefecture. In addition, exhibition commentary by participating temples, interactive talk tours with guests, gallery talks by the curator in charge, and visiting talks by Ryukoku Museum curators are scheduled. On October 25, an interactive parent-child viewing session and workshop will also be held for elementary and junior high school students and their guardians, where participants can take photos of Buddhist statues with smartphones and create tin badges. The concurrent exhibition "Buddhist Statues of Hamabi" can also be viewed with the admission ticket to this exhibition.
