Held at the Shimada City Museum, 'Touch It! The Three Great Spears of Japan [Shimada City Museum Summer Vacation Special Event]' offers a rare opportunity to directly experience the 'Otegine no Yari', one of Japan's Three Great Spears. Said to have been crafted in present-day Shimada City during the Muromachi period, this spear measuring approximately 3 meters in total length was created through the superior craftsmanship of Shimada swordsmiths. In this event, visitors can view this historic spear up close, touch it, and experience its impressive presence. Historical explanations by curators will also be provided, allowing for a deeper appreciation of the spear's appeal. A special summer vacation event where visitors can fully enjoy the historical and cultural charms of which Shimada is proud.
