Yattokame Cultural Festival DOORS

The "Yattokame Cultural Festival DOORS," showcasing the appeal of Nagoya's history and culture, will be held across downtown Nagoya for 30 days from Saturday, October 17 to Sunday, November 15, 2026. Through approximately 50 diverse programs rooted in Nagoya's history and culture, this event aims to rediscover and promote the city's lesser-known charms. The program consists of three main pillars: "Downtown Performing Arts Showcase," "Traveling Nagoya Studies," and "Nagoya Wagashi." In the "Downtown Performing Arts Showcase," visitors can enjoy street Kabuki, street Kyogen, koto, and shakuhachi performances during the opening event at Nadya Park. In addition, Nagoya Noh Theater is scheduled to host the Noh play "Oeyama," the Kyogen play "Onitsugiko," a collaborative concert featuring jazz vocalist Keiko Lee and traditional Japanese instruments, and new traditional Japanese music performances. In "Traveling Nagoya Studies," a total of 47 courses treat the city as a living textbook to learn about Nagoya by seeing, listening, and walking, featuring red miso tastings and lectures exploring Nagoya's regional identity through school lunches. In "Nagoya Wagashi," 31 shops in the city (planned) will participate, presenting and selling products under the theme of "Nagoya-style Japanese sweets" (Nagoya Wagashi Fair). Other events include outdoor tea ceremonies (nodate) and matcha tea experiences at Nagoya Castle, town walks and Kyogen talk sessions around Kinjo Market, as well as open-air Kyogen and live music performances held in urban spaces. A "Yattokameguri" stamp rally will also be held, where stamps are stamped for each program attended, with original commemorative gifts awarded according to the number collected.
