About this event

A Goma ritual will be held at Yakiyama Kojindo. On the day, welcoming His Holiness Ryochi Gojo, Head of the Kinpusen Shugen Honshu sect and Kanrei of Sohonzan Kinpusen-ji Temple, the Goma ritual will be solemnly performed starting at noon. The Goma ritual is a solemn Buddhist ceremony based on Shugendo traditions where wooden prayer sticks (gomagi) are burned to pray for the fulfillment of various wishes and for good health and protection from illness. It offers a rare opportunity conducted at Yakiyama Kojindo, which preserves the history of mountain worship to this day. A guided tour to learn about the history, culture, and faith of Kojindo and Mount Yaki is also scheduled. Please spend a special day experiencing prayers and history on Mount Yaki, which has long watched over the Kumano Kodo Iseji route.
