Kusatsu Autumn Leaves Lantern Festival 2026 will be held on Saturday, November 28 and Sunday, November 29, 2026, at Oharappa Open Space in Yabase Kihan Island Park, Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture. At this event, approximately 3,000 sky lanterns—one of the largest scales in Japan—will soar into the night sky, creating a magical spectacle. When held in Osaka last year, it was so popular that lantern tickets quickly sold out. This year, it has powered up to 3,000 lanterns to offer an even more breathtaking experience. The simultaneous lantern launch is scheduled for 20:00. In addition to the lantern launch, visitors can enjoy street performances, live music by recording artists, a wide variety of food trucks, and nostalgic traditional festival stalls throughout the day at the venue. Operating hours are from 16:00 to 21:00, offering content for everyone from children to adults to enjoy all day. Lantern tickets are 4,000 yen for early bird, 5,000 yen in advance, and 6,000 yen on the day, with one ticket admitting up to two people (free for elementary school students and younger).
