About this event

At Saimyo-ji Temple in Kora Town, Shiga Prefecture, the 'Autumn Leaves and Special Viewing of Buddhist Statues in the National Treasure Main Hall Rear Chamber at Saimyo-ji Temple' will be held in the autumn of 2026. There are about 1,000 maple trees on the temple grounds, and the autumn leaves reflect in the famous 'Horai-tei Garden,' leaving an overwhelming and magnificent impression. Some old trees are more than about 350 years old. In addition, cherry blossoms known as Fudan-zakura bloom around the same time, creating a grand coexistence of spring cherry blossoms and autumn foliage. Fudan-zakura usually starts blooming in September and reaches full bloom in November. A special viewing of the Buddhist statues in the rear chamber of the National Treasure main hall will also be held, which can be viewed for an admission fee of 1,000 yen. Viewings are held in spring and autumn. The peak autumn foliage season may vary depending on climate and other factors.
