Autumn Leaves at Kongorin-ji Temple
Japanese name:金剛輪寺の紅葉
📅 Tue, Nov 10, 2026 - Mon, Dec 7, 2026
About this event
At Kongorin-ji Temple in Aisho Town, Shiga Prefecture, the entire temple grounds are colored with vivid autumn foliage from mid to late November. In particular, the autumn leaves around the main hall and in the garden turn such a deep crimson that they are called 'blood-dyed maples,' creating a breathtaking sight. Along with the Sen-tai Jizo (one thousand Jizo statues) seated on both sides of the long approach, they guide visitors to the main hall on the mountain. While Kongorin-ji Temple boasts blooming wild cherry blossoms and rhododendrons in spring, and hydrangeas and water lilies in summer, the autumn foliage displays an exceptional beauty.
