About this event

Held by Kyoto's Wakuden in Kyotango, its birthplace, 'Wakuden Mulberry Day' is a special 6-day period to learn about and taste mulberry, the symbol of the forest. The forest-creation project at 'Wakuden no Mori', ongoing since 2007, began as a way to give back to the hometown and restore the lost forest of the past. Thirty thousand saplings of 56 varieties have grown, now yielding rich blessings including mulberries. This event offers limited quantities of sweets made with mulberry, providing an opportunity to experience the climate and history of Tango. At MORI Wakuden, you can enjoy mulberry Domyoji sweets, mulberry soft-serve ice cream, mulberry terrine, and more. At Kumihama Studio, special limited-time tasting samples will be provided. All offerings are limited to the first 98 people each day. On the final day, Sunday, September 13, the 'House in the Forest: Mitsumasa Anno Museum' will open for free to Kyotango residents, and 'Thank You Kyotango: Wakuden no Mori' will be held to express gratitude. It will be a day to enjoy the nature of the forest, the art museum, and local cuisine, connecting people and nature, as well as food and art, to the next generation.
