About this event
Held at Tarui Southern Beach in Sennan City, Osaka Prefecture, the "Sennan Open Water Swimming Competition 2026" is a dynamic sporting event held in the open sea. Unlike swimming in a pool, competitors must anticipate seawater conditions and currents, testing both intellect and technique. The venue is adjacent to SENNAN LONG PARK and offers a superb location overlooking Kansai International Airport and the Rokko Mountain Range, and is selected as one of "Japan's Top 100 Sunsets." In 2027, the open water swimming event of the World Masters Games 2027 Kansai is scheduled to be held here. The competition features individual events of 5 km, 3 km, and 1 km, along with a 4 x 500 m relay. In addition, official practice sessions and the "Beginner OWS Workshop & OWS Grade 5 Group Swim Test" will take place the previous day, with Sachiko Yamada, an Olympian who competed in the Sydney and Athens Games, serving as instructor. Spectator viewing is free.
