2026 Hatsushima Daijingu Autumn Grand Festival - Tsukiji Danjiri Festival

The Tsukiji Danjiri Festival will be held as the autumn annual grand festival at Hatsushima Daijingu Shrine in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture. On the eve of the festival (the day before Respect for the Aged Day), a heroic danjiri float parade is scheduled to depart from in front of Sun Civic Amagasaki and enter Hatsushima Daijingu Shrine. On the main festival day (Respect for the Aged Day), a powerful "Yama-awase," where two facing danjiri floats clash and push against each other, will take place at Matsushimabashi Park. The traditions of Tsukiji, a castle town built in the early Edo period around Amagasaki Castle, have overcome the damage of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and continue to echo through the town along with vigorous chants and the sounds of bells and drums. In addition to highlights such as the danjiri parade and Yama-awase, night stalls will line the streets, making it a vibrant festival.
