Amagasaki City 110th Municipal Anniversary: 'Shinmyo' Launch Announcement & Concert - Factory Craftsmanship Carving Shakuhachi History

Commemorating the 110th anniversary of Amagasaki City's municipal organization, a launch announcement and concert will be held for 'Shinmyo', the world's first magnesium alloy shakuhachi developed by bringing together the technical skills of local small factories. While traditional Japanese shakuhachi flutes had the drawback of being vulnerable to dryness and prone to cracking, Zero Seiko Co., Ltd. and Delight Lab overcame this challenge by utilizing their unique precision processing technologies. After 9 trial iterations, 'Shinmyo' was born with a tone quality comparable to natural bamboo, and its innovative timbre will be showcased early in local Amagasaki. During the concert, shakuhachi player Fugaku Matsumoto will perform using 'Shinmyo' alongside Ryo Doi on synthesizer and Masaaki Takano on percussion, presenting a wide range of musical genres from classical to pop and anime theme songs. In addition, Part 1 is scheduled to feature behind-the-scenes development stories of 'Shinmyo', comparative performances alongside a bamboo shakuhachi, and interaction with the developers and musicians, offering a chance to experience this special night at Amagasaki Castle as it carves a new history for the shakuhachi.
