About this event
Takarazuka City is a city with deep historical ties to coffee culture, including being home to what is said to be Japan's oldest coffee chain, "Cafe Paulista". The "Japan Coffee Festival 2026 in Takarazuka", marking its 5th edition in Takarazuka City, will now be held. This year's theme is "Osamu Tezuka's Works and Coffee", specifically themed around "Save Our Fragile Earth" (Garasu no Chikyu o Sukue), an essay collection Osamu Tezuka wrote in his later years. Based on excerpts from each chapter of the book and Tezuka's works reflecting that worldview, approximately 30 coffee shops gathered from all over Japan will express their interpretations as a special "cup" for this event. Last year, 30 shops participated under the theme of "Phoenix" (Hi no Tori), drawing approximately 4,400 visitors. This year, students from Otemae University, which signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Takarazuka City in May 2026, will participate with a booth for the first time, alongside decorative displays and cut-flower sales of Takarazuka-grown dahlias, a local city goods exhibition, and other programs allowing visitors to enjoy various charms of Takarazuka through coffee. While all previous editions in Takarazuka lasted 4 days, this event will run for a record 6 days, making it 6 days where the two cultures of coffee and Tezuka's works intersect. At the venue, a "Coffee Tasting Ticket" is required to purchase coffee; advance tickets are 1,800 yen for 3 tickets, and same-day tickets are 2,000 yen for 3 tickets (both include a brochure). Ticket holders will also receive admission discount benefits for the Takarazuka City Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum and Sumire Musical Theater Museum.
