About this event

Held in Tamba City, Hyogo Prefecture, the "Atago Festival" is a traditional festival that colors the summer along the Tamba Route. On Sunday, August 23, 2026, events include a Disaster Prevention Prayer Ritual, Goma Fire Ritual, Tsukuri-mono (decorative folk art displays) shown across 7 locations in town, a Tsukuri-mono stamp rally, and festivities at CHATTA BASE. On the following day, Monday, August 24, visitors can enjoy dedicated fireworks illuminating the summer night sky (from 19:30), live stage performances, the "Tamba Roulotte" light-truck market, open-air food stalls, as well as Tsukuri-mono exhibits at 7 locations in town and activities at CHATTA BASE. In particular, the "Tsukuri-mono" of Narimatsu, which has a tradition of over 270 years, is the festival's main attraction; crafted using only a single type of material—such as ceramics, celebratory gift items, or hardware—without elaborate processing or coloring, these creative works vividly reflect the times and current events. It is a 2-day event enjoyable for children and adults alike, featuring night-sky fireworks, traditional Tsukuri-mono art, and bustling food stalls. Note that traffic regulations will be in place on Monday, August 24 from 18:00 to 22:00.
