About this event
Set at "SAKIA," the former Ozaki Elementary School in Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture, the "8th Sakia Festival" brings together the food and people of Awaji Island. With more than 35 food stalls and market booths featuring rich local ingredients, this one-day event allows visitors to fully enjoy the culinary appeal of Awaji Island. The venue will also host dance performances by the Awa Odori group "Sugorokuren," a kids' art workshop to create original bookmarks alongside active professional artists, and a raffle with luxurious prizes. Using the former school grounds where local residents once gathered, the event creates a space for the local community to connect and interact through food. On the day of the event, the island's famous "Awaji Onion Soup," made by slowly sautéing Awaji onions, will be distributed to visitors for free. It is an event perfect for the autumn appetite to experience the food, culture, and art of Awaji Island.
