About this event
This is the autumn grand festival held at the historic Iwa Shrine, one of the three major shrines of Harima documented in the Harima no Kuni Fudoki. Expressing gratitude to the great deity and praying for peace, the highlight of this festival occurs during the Kango-sai (return ritual) after the Shinko-sai procession returns to the shrine grounds, where yatai festival floats representing the pinnacle of traditional Harima craftsmanship gathered by parishioners perform mutual jostling rituals (neri-awase) inside the precinct. The floats standing out against the cedar groves, combined with the echoing drumbeats and chants throughout the grounds, offer an overwhelming spectacle.
