Visit the Phantom Goshin Railway! Autumn 2026 JNR Bus Sakamoto Line Revival Operation Event

About this event

This event utilizes the section of the uncompleted JNR Goshin Line, which was under construction in Nishiyoshino-cho, Gojo City, Nara Prefecture, and converted into a dedicated bus roadway in the 1960s. It traces the history of the JNR Bus Sakamoto Line (later West Japan JR Bus Sakamoto Line and Nara Kotsu Gojo-Nishiyoshino Line), which operated from the 1960s until 2014. The event recreates the atmosphere of Kido Station when the JNR bus was in operation, with vehicles painted in JNR bus style running according to a designated timetable. For this day only, centered around Kido Station, the operational scenery from when the bus-only road was active will be recreated, and free special buses to various points of interest will run. Guided tours and the 'Nishiyoshino Onsen Photo Run' will also be held, along with food stalls by 'Minshuku Fukujuso' at Kido Station. Visitors can enjoy riding the vehicles, taking photos, participating in tours, and spending their time as they wish.
