Awashima Shrine Autumn Grand Festival (Amazake Festival)

About this event

At the Autumn Grand Festival of Awashima Shrine, in honor of the enshrined deity Sukunabikona-no-Mikoto being the ancestral deity of sake brewing, amazake (sweet fermented rice drink) made from newly harvested rice is offered to the shrine with gratitude. A feature of the festival is that visitors are offered free winter-passing amazake to pray for good health and protection against illness. This festival is known as a heartwarming event where local traditions and faith remain vibrant.
