About this event

Subjugating Kishu was an important endeavor in the unification of Japan by the brothers Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Hidenaga. This special exhibition introduces not only Hideyoshi's Kishu Campaign, famous for the 'Water Attack on Ota Castle,' but also Oda Nobunaga's Kishu Campaign, conveying the charm of Wakayama's Sengoku period. Toyotomi Hidenaga, the younger brother of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, was in charge of constructing Wakayama Castle and was deeply involved in the history of Wakayama City. Focusing on these historical events and figures, this exhibition introduces the state of Wakayama at that time, Sengoku period strategies, culture, and more through historical literature and pictorial materials. It will be an exhibition where visitors can deeply learn about the historical connection between Wakayama City and the Toyotomi brothers.
