About this event
The first 'Tyrannosaurus Race in Tanabe Ogigahama Event' in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture, will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Tanabe Ogigahama Beach. In this unique event, participants wearing Tyrannosaurus suits will compete over a distance of 50m. Alongside the race, hands-on events for both children and adults such as a treasure hunt and clam digging will also be held simultaneously, enlivening the venue. Race registration begins at 8:30 AM, and the entire event runs from 9:00 AM to around 12:00 PM. The participation fee is 1,000 yen for the adult category and free for the juvenile category. As an officially recognized race by the Japan Tyrannosaurus Athletics Federation, participants will also have a chance to challenge the Japan record. After the race, a chase game titled 'Catch the Tyrannosaurus!' where children and Tyrannosauruses interact will also be held, and Tyrannosauruses that manage to escape until the end will receive local products as prizes. In the treasure hunt, finding balls hidden in the sandy beach earns you a gift, and in the clam digging, you can harvest Asari clams. It is an event where you can enjoy an extraordinary experience with family and friends.
