About this event
Honoring the great achievements of medical pioneer Hanaoka Seishu and passing his legacy down to future generations, the "Seishu Festival 2026" will be held. As part of the festival, the "Seishu Historical Procession" reenacting the bridal entry of his wife, Kae—who continuously supported him—will take place. Participants are being recruited to bring this historical scene to life in full makeup and authentic period costumes. The procession consists of diverse roles including Seishu's father, Seishu's younger sister, lantern bearers, baggage supervisors, matchmakers, umbrella bearers, bridal attendants, palanquin bearers, Kae's brothers, chanters, shell box carriers, cargo handlers, Kae's relatives, Seishu's relatives, and ceremonial rice cake bearers, with participants playing their respective parts to enliven the parade. Rehearsals will also be conducted in preparation for the main event. Consider taking this opportunity to participate in a historical event and enjoy a unique experience.
