Held in Yura Town, Wakayama Prefecture, the 'Wakayama Yura Sea Fishing Tournament' is a 7-day fishing competition set against the backdrop of rich coastal waters. Participants can enjoy various fishing styles including rock fishing (iso), raft fishing (ikada), and boat fishing (fune). Rankings are contested based on fish caught during the tournament period, offering a chance to break personal records or catch a giant fish. The entry fee is paid only once, allowing unlimited entries throughout the tournament period. Competition categories include Rock Fishing (largescale blackfish, striped beakfish, chicken grunt, sea bream), Raft Fishing (black sea bream, others), Boat Fishing (sea bream, others), and bigfin reef squid common across rock, raft, and boat fishing. Top finishers in each category will receive lavish prizes, such as a pair ticket for a kaiseki meal with Japanese spiny lobster, a 5,000 yen Kura Sushi meal voucher, and a 'Yura Sea & Mountain Flavor Set.' Participation prizes are also given to all entrants. To participate, please register at participating boat/ferry services (tosen-ten).
