About this event

"IWAMI CLEANUP FESTIVAL 2026" is a new environmental festival held in Iwami Town on Sunday, September 20, 2026. This event is held in conjunction with "World Cleanup Day," an initiative to clean up the earth simultaneously around the world. Set against the beautiful sea of Iwami Town, it combines a beach clean-up with workshops to experience nature. After cleaning the beach while listening to the sound of waves, participants can enjoy making crafts together with specialized guides and local artists using rich natural materials such as seashells, driftwood, and mountain wood. The event will be held across 4 venues in the town—Higashihama, Kumaihama, Makidani, and Uradome—in multiple sessions across the morning and afternoon. Each venue will feature unique workshops that allow participants to experience the diverse facets of Iwami's sea, such as tide pool rocky shore observation, trekking & woodwork, seashell candle making, and tenugui towel dyeing using driftage stamps. Participation is free, but advance reservation is required on a first-come, first-served basis for each session. Through this festival, participants will be able to rediscover the charm of Iwami's nature and feel the importance of passing on beautiful nature to the future.
