About this event

An annual summer festival named "Tenryo-san" after the fact that Iwami Ginzan was the largest silver mine in Japanese history and the area was a Tenryo (directly ruled shogunate land). It is held across three different venues every year. At the Omori venue, visitors can enjoy festival stalls offering silver scooping, target shooting, shape-cutting candy (katanuki), raffle draws, Senbon-kuji string lotteries, yo-yo balloon fishing, bouncy ball scooping, medaka fish scooping, nail hammering, sweet potato stamp making, and a coloring experience of the Grand Procession. In addition, there are many performances and attractions such as Yuka Watanuki, Dojun, street performer Sacchan, Takurosu, Oya Kagura Shachu, and a banana auction performance. With activities like bare-handed fish catching, free rides on silver rickshaws (Ginrikisha), and rock-paper-scissors tournaments, it is an event where children and adults alike can have fun all day. Dining at restaurants within the town is also encouraged.
