About this event
"Okuizumo Cycling 2026" will be held, running through Okuizumo, a town certified as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). This event offers a cycling experience unique to Okuizumo, where you can ride while experiencing rich nature nurtured by tatara ironmaking, beautiful satoyama landscapes, and historic townscapes. At the halfway turnaround point of the course is the "Sakurai Family Residence / Kabiya Shuseikan Museum," which drew attention as a filming location for the hit TV drama "VIVANT," welcoming participants with historic architecture and scenery unique to Okuizumo. October, the event period, is the autumn foliage season, allowing you to ride pleasantly while feeling the autumn breeze amidst magnificent nature, including the shores of Lake Sakura Orochi (Obara Dam). The greatest pleasure of cycling is the hospitality after the finish line, where all-you-can-eat grilled Okuizumo Wagyu beef—a brand ingredient nurtured through the GIAHS circular agriculture—and Nita rice (served with tonjiru pork miso soup) will be provided. You can savor Okuizumo's prized delicacies with your post-ride body. Furthermore, sightseeing around Okuizumo after the event is also recommended, with many charming spots such as flavorful "Izumo Soba," traditional craft "Unshu Soroban" (abacus), Japan's largest double loop bridge "Okuizumo Orochi Loop," and the gorge "Oni no Shitaburui," designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. The first 200 participants will also receive gift vouchers that can be used within Okuizumo Town. It is an event where you can enjoy "riding, eating, and touring" all at once, not just cycling.
