About this event

The "23rd Mitsuishi Town of Lights" is an event held in the Mitsuishi district of Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, where approximately 4,300 handmade lanterns magically illuminate the entire area. This year's theme is "lets have HOPE." Wishing for hope especially in difficult times, a dragon said to bring happiness and the dragon mascot "Mitagon"—derived from Mitsuishi's Fukatani Waterfall legend—are drawn as symbols of hope in ground light art. The event is held across the Yonretsu Anamon, Mitsuishi Hachimangu Shrine, and Mitsuishi Junior High School areas. At the Mitsuishi Junior High School ground, the ground light art and a "Candle Night Painting Exhibition" created by children from Mitsuishi Elementary School, Katakami Elementary School, and Mitsuishi Kodomo-en Nursery School will be held. In addition, art exhibitions by junior high school students will be displayed. A food and drink area will be set up at the former site of Mitsuishi Public Hall, and temporary parking will be available at the Mitsuishi Sports Park ground. The opening ceremony will be held at Mitsuishi Junior High School from 18:00, featuring a performance by the Mitsuishi Junior High School brass band. In case of rain, it may be postponed to the following day.
