About this event
At the Former Shizutani School, where Chinese pistache (kai) trees and maple leaves reach their peak viewing, the autumn leaves event "Welcome to Autumn-Colored Shizutani" will be held. During the period, Chinese pistache trees within the historic site and maples on the grounds reach peak colors, allowing visitors to enjoy Shizutani surrounded by autumn foliage; at the same time, stalls selling gourmet foods, Bizen ware, and more will be set up in front of the historic site entrance gate, offering food and shopping. In addition, from Saturday, November 7 to Sunday, November 15, the "Former Shizutani School Light-up" will also be held, where you can enjoy a magical space created by National Treasures and autumn foliage illuminated by light. The Former Shizutani School is said to be the world's oldest public school for common people, featuring numerous buildings including the National Treasure Auditorium roofed with Bizen ware tiles, most of which are designated as National Important Cultural Properties. Exuding a unique space and calm atmosphere, it boasts exceptional beauty particularly during the autumn leaves season.
