Nakamura Stable Sumo Training Camp in Wake

Nakamura Stable, to which the sandanme division wrestler Wakenokaze (a native of Wake Town, Okayama Prefecture) belongs, will hold a training camp in Wake Town in 2026 following 2025. The training camp serves as a valuable opportunity to support the hometown wrestler and deepen interactions with the local community. Practices are open to the public, allowing sumo fans and local residents to visit and witness the wrestlers' powerful bouts up close. Additionally, as part of their Integrated Studies period, students from Wake Shizutani High School will learn about Wake Town's appeal as a sumo town through interacting with wrestlers and experiencing the dohyo ring. At Saeki Elementary School, pupils will interact with the wrestlers and feel their power and strength firsthand. During the camp period, interactions will emphasize bonding with local residents and providing support for the hometown wrestler. On the final day, chanko nabe will be served to local residents. This training camp is an event that spreads the appeal of sumo and contributes to regional revitalization.
