32nd RIKEN Satosho Seminar

About this event

The "32nd RIKEN Satosho Seminar" will be held in Satosho Town, Okayama Prefecture, the birthplace of Dr. Yoshio Nishina, known as the father of atomic physics in Japan. Jointly hosted by RIKEN and the Nishina Memorial Foundation for the Promotion of Science, this seminar aims to promote exchange among research institutions and companies in Okayama Prefecture and to raise youth interest in science. This year, Team Director Hiroshi Ohno from the Center for Integrative Medical Sciences will give a presentation titled "Gut Microbiota, Health, and Disease," explaining the importance of gut microbiota beyond nutrition and its connection to diseases. In addition, Group Director Hiromitsu Haba from the Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science will present "The Future Opened Up by Cyclotrons," introducing the forefront of new element searches and next-generation cancer therapy research utilizing radioisotopes (RI) produced by the RIKEN RI Beam Factory. The venue is Nishina Memorial Hall on the 2nd floor of Nishina Kaikan, and admission is free. Advance registration is required and will close once capacity is reached.
