About this event
The "3rd Shimanami Film Festival," an island-hopping film festival touring the islands and port towns of the Shimanami Kaido while enjoying music, art, and food centered around movies, will be held. Taking place from October 3 to October 24, 2026, set across Hiroshima and Ehime Prefectures, it is an event where visitors can fully enjoy the charms of the Shimanami Kaido not only through movie screenings, but also through diverse content such as music, art, and food. Scenic spots along the Shimanami Kaido serve as venues, including Sunami Beach Park in Mihara City, Innoshima and Setoda Port in Onomichi City, and Omishima in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. The film festival is held annually and was established in 2024. It is organized by the Shimanami Film Festival Executive Committee, and co-hosted/supported by Onomichi City, Imabari City, and Mihara City. For fiscal year 2026, there will be no open call for submissions, and the program is scheduled to focus on screenings only or screenings of invited works. Aiming to offer more than just movie screenings, this film festival provides experiences integrated with local culture, nature, and food, bringing new discoveries and inspiration to visitors.
