📅 Fri, Aug 28, 2026
About this event
"Katsunari de Night," a one-night-only event at Fukuyama Castle at the end of summer, offers a closer look at traditional Japanese culture. This year's theme is "Takigino" (bonfire Noh), featuring traditional performing arts such as Noh set against historic Fukuyama Castle in an unprecedented, fresh format. The enchanting stage set against the backdrop of the illuminated Fukuyama Castle is an exclusive attraction available only on this day and at this location. Additionally, a Kitchen Car Festa will be held simultaneously at the venue, with food trucks selling limited-edition "Katsunari de Night" menu items so visitors can enjoy the summer night with delicious food. The program is designed so that even first-timers to traditional culture and families with children can easily enjoy it. Stage events will feature a koto performance by Kiyoshi Ibukuro, the Fukuyama Traditional Industry Support Ambassador; a talk session between female Noh performer Kinue Oshima and Kiyoshi Ibukuro; a live reading by voice actress Romi Park; and a performance of the new Noh piece "Fukuyama" by the Kita-style Oshima Noh Theater. Furthermore, prior to the main event, a special talk show themed on the 7th Lord of Fukuyama Domain, Masahiro Abe, will be held on Sunday, August 23.
