About this event

The "8th All-Japan Chidori-Ashi Championship" will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Saijo Honmachi History Square on Saijo Sakagura-dori in Higashihiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture. Centered on the theme of "chidori-ashi" (staggering/zigzag drunken steps)—the ultimate expression of drunkenness—this competition aims to move people's hearts through unique performances within a 1-minute time limit. There is no age restriction, and anyone from children to seniors can participate; past competitions have featured diverse and unique performances including manzai comedy, dance, and parent-child collaborations. Even non-performers can watch the compelling, realistic acts up close for free. Participants must present their original chidori-ashi performance within 60 seconds. Whether you have actually consumed alcohol does not matter, but heavily intoxicated individuals will be disqualified. Participants must prepare their own music and costumes. The first-place prize is 30,000 yen, and many special awards such as the Judges' Award are also prepared. Registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis for 15 groups (up to 3 people per group), with check-in starting at 18:30. The event will be held in light rain but canceled in rough weather, running from 19:00 to 20:30.
