About this event
Held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Kaita Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, "KAITAFUL FES." is a participatory, experiential festival celebrating the 70th anniversary of Kaita's municipal town status. The festival features a wide variety of activities across two venues: Kaita Elementary School (Wonderful AREA) and Kaita Town Hall (Colorful AREA). One of the highlights is a giant collaborative art project created by piecing together sunflower drawings made by individual town residents. In the Colorful AREA, live creative painting sessions will take place, where professional designers, local students, and visiting children collaborate on canvases featuring the Old Chiba Family Residence and the Sunflower Grand Bridge monument. Other attractions include "HATARA KID’S KAITA," where children can experience working jobs with local companies and shops, and the "Town Residents' Stage," providing a performance venue for local groups and clubs. The event will be hosted by Kaita-born TV personalities Chika Uemura and Tomokazu Matsukawa to build up the excitement. Furthermore, visitors can join a stamp rally themed around the Edo-period Saigoku Kaido highway with chances to win luxurious prizes, and enjoy the "Food & Marche" featuring gourmet foods and handmade goods from Kaita and neighboring areas. With a public live recording by Hiroshima FM and greetings with popular mascot characters also scheduled, this event aims to showcase Kaita's appeal and foster pride in the town.
