About this event

The '22nd Taishakukyo Sukora Highlands Kagura Joint Performance' is a Kagura event held on October 4, 2026, at Taishakukyo Sukora Highlands Jinseki Cosmo Dome in Jinsekikogen Town, Hiroshima Prefecture. In this joint performance, visitors can enjoy three distinct Kagura traditions in a single day: local Jinsekikogen Town's 'Jindai Kagura', western Shimane Prefecture's 'Iwami Kagura', and Hiroshima Prefecture's 'Geihoku Kagura'. Jindai Kagura features a fusion of sacred ritual and theatrical drama, narration by the deities themselves, manzai-like comedic banter known as 'chari', and the scattering of 'seeds of good fortune'. Iwami Kagura is captivating for its fast-paced 'Hacchoshi' rhythm, gorgeous and extravagant costumes, realistic masks, clear storylines, and flashy stage effects. Geihoku Kagura is characterized by its dynamic 'Shinmai' (new dance style), acrobatic staging, and easy-to-understand entertainment value. The program is scheduled from 9:30 to 16:30, presenting performances such as 'Sarudahiko no Mai', 'Yorimasa', 'Zendoki', 'Rashomon', 'Oe-yama', 'Matsuo Myojin no Mai', 'Orochi Taiji', and 'Okuni no Mai (Mochi Throwing)'. Eating and drinking are permitted inside the venue, with shops selling bento lunchboxes, alcoholic beverages, and more. In addition, those who purchase the '2027 Kagura Calendar' on the day will be entered into a raffle for a chance to take a commemorative photo on stage with costumed performers. Along with watching Kagura, visitors can also enjoy sightseeing in Taishakukyo Gorge, making it a very appealing event.
