Baby Crying Sumo (Myoken Shrine Autumn Grand Festival)

Held in conjunction with the Autumn Grand Festival at Kurumazuka Myoken Shrine, the Baby Crying Sumo Tournament is a traditional event praying for the healthy growth of children. Target participants are babies aged 0 to 2 years old, featuring a unique rule where the first baby to cry wins. Visitors can see a variety of reactions, such as babies who do not cry even when entertained by the referee or babies who immediately want to step out of the sumo ring, filling the venue with smiles throughout. This festival takes place at Myoken Shrine, which attracts many worshipers not only locally but also from inside and outside the prefecture as a deity for children and business prosperity, showing great excitement every time. In addition to the Baby Crying Sumo, events such as Hana Sumo (for children aged 2 to preschoolers), seashell lottery, children's safety prayer festival, and children's portable shrine processions are also held.
