About this event
Held in Suo-Oshima Town, "[Suo-Oshima] 3rd Making Tasty and Easy-to-Eat Jakoten from Underutilized Fish!" is a hands-on experience event utilizing local underutilized fish deliciously. In this program, participants mince seasonal small fish (zako) and experience making authentic jakoten (fried fish cakes) under the guidance of locals. In addition to tasting freshly made jakoten on the spot, an optional dinner exchange gathering featuring jakoten and local fish is prepared for interested participants. Furthermore, a tour to the Ukashima Market morning market the next day is also offered, providing an opportunity to deeply experience the island's food culture. This event aims to rediscover the appeal of marine products, which are the blessings of the sea, and to learn methods of utilizing local resources. The participation fee is 3,000 yen (1,500 yen for high school students and younger), and the capacity is 12 people. The venue is Hiraoi Community Center, held on the afternoon of the 1st day. The morning market tour on the following day is available for those interested.
