The Autumn Grand Festival of Tawa Shrine held in Sanuki City, Kagawa Prefecture, takes place over two days: the Yoimatsuri (eve festival) on Saturday, October 10, 2026, and the Honmatsuri (main festival) on Sunday, October 11. The greatest highlight of this festival is the sight of chosa (floats) gathered from 8 districts being carried from the shrine to the Otabisho (temporary resting place) while singing Ise Ondo. You can feel first-hand the passion of the courageous chosa bearers and the traditional festival atmosphere rooted in the local community. Marking the arrival of autumn, this traditional festival deepens the bonds among local residents while bringing excitement and emotion to visitors.
