Held in Shikokuchuo City, Ehime Prefecture, the 'Shikokuchuo Skyrun 2026 (8th Annual)' is a skyrunning race set around Shiotzukamine. Following the past 7 editions, the course has been completely renewed this time and will be held in the 'Sky' category where you can enjoy the rich mountains around Shingu. The '21km Sky' class (approx. 2000m cumulative elevation gain), which starts from a difficult pass on the Tosa Kita Kaido highway once used for Sankin-kotai, ascends the steep 'Harahocho', visits 'Sasagamine' on the Kochi prefectural border, and reaches the summit of 'Shiotzukamine' covered in Japanese pampas grass, has participation prerequisites. The '9km Short Sky' class (approx. 1000m cumulative elevation gain) making a round trip to Sasagamine is accessible even for beginners, and the 'Vertical Kids' class (approx. 130m elevation difference) where elementary school students compete in time from Yasuragi Square to the summit of Shiotzukamine is also available. It is a renewed event where you can fully experience the appeal of skyrunning—enjoying mountaineering safely and swiftly.
