Japanese name:地域ガイドとめぐる 海辺のまちの秋祭りツアー
📅 Sat, Oct 24, 2026 - Sun, Oct 25, 2026
About this event
This is a 2-day, 1-night tour guided by local guides from the Seiyo City Tourism and Local Products Association to explore the autumn festival in a seaside town. Centered around the Takayama district in Akehama-cho, Seiyo City, Ehime Prefecture, participants can experience the local climate, industries, and lifestyle. On the tour, you can enjoy walking through Takayama guided by a local guide, experiences unique to Akehama, and local cuisine. In particular, observing 'Shiogori,' a heroic Shinto ritual designated as an intangible folk cultural property of Seiyo City in 1982 (Showa 57), is a valuable opportunity to feel firsthand the culture of the town that serves as the festival's stage. Additionally, the itinerary includes making haiya-imo (ash-baked sweet potatoes), viewing lime industry heritage, visiting the Seiyo City Historical and Folklore Museum Akehama Storage Facility, and picking seasonal mandarin oranges (mikan), allowing you to fully savor the blessings of the region. Because it is a small-group tour (maximum of 9 people), you can also deepen interactions with local people. Stroll through the town where the festival takes place alongside local guides and observe the autumn festival where the passion of local people is passed down. The experience also includes savoring the bounty of the sea with the local dish 'Hyugameshi' and harvesting in-season mandarin oranges. For those interested, viewing the 'Okaeri' event of the Takayama Autumn Festival is also possible.
