About this event

An event where you can enjoy the magical townscape illuminated by the moon and paper lanterns in the Yokaichi-Gokoku Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings in Uchiko Town. During the event, hanging lanterns, floor lanterns, and bamboo lanterns line the streets, and koto performances can be enjoyed in traditional merchant houses. In addition, free haiku submissions throughout the townscape, a gold-leaf decorated washi paper exhibition, and a handmade washi paper exhibition will be held. On Saturday the 26th, the "Hazetori Song and Dance" will be performed in the streets. At the Kamihaga Residence, a performance by the Uchiko Kyogen Club will be held with free admission. At the adjacent Koshoji Temple, an "Otsukimi Sabo" (moon-viewing tea house) will be held, where you can admire the harvest moon while savoring Buddhist vegetarian sweets and refreshments. The preservation district will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM during the event.
