About this event

"Hidaka Mountains Erimo Tokachi National Park Junior Park Ranger 2026," held in Samani Town, Hokkaido, is a nature experience event for 4th to 6th grade elementary school students. It offers a day to touch, learn about, and explore the grand nature of Hidaka Mountains Erimo Tokachi National Park. In the morning, outdoor observations such as a tour of the Horoman Gorge and an investigation of stones and sand on the riverbed will be conducted; in the afternoon, workshops will be held to learn about the role of national parks and the work of rangers. Furthermore, through rock specimen making using "peridotite," the symbol of Mount Apoi, and stone polishing experiences, participants can explore the origins of the Hidaka Mountains and the mysteries of the Earth. It will be a precious opportunity to stimulate children's curiosity in nature and nurture their exploratory spirit. Participants will be provided with a "Geo Bento," an officially certified product of Mt. Apoi Geopark. This program also connects to human resource development so that children, who will lead the next generation, can understand the excellent natural environment of the national park and pass it on to the future.
