102nd Iizuka Cooling Fireworks Festival
Japanese name:第102回 飯塚納涼花火大会
📅 Fri, Sep 25, 2026
About this event
Held in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, the "102nd Iizuka Cooling Fireworks Festival" is a summer tradition of Iizuka City with a long history, having held its 1st edition in 1922 (Taisho 11). Visited by 100,000 people every year, large-scale set-piece fireworks including Niagara Falls and approximately 7,000 launch fireworks illuminate the night sky. Numerous food stalls line the area around the venue, making it a bustling major event in the Chikuho region. To avoid the effects of extreme heat, the timing of the event has been changed starting in 2025. This year's 102nd festival is extended by 30 minutes compared to usual, allowing visitors to enjoy a packed program of fireworks for about 1.5 hours. Access to the venue is convenient using public transportation, being about a 10-minute walk from JR Shin-Iizuka Station or about a 1-minute walk from Iizuka Bus Terminal. However, as temporary traffic regulations by the police will be implemented on the roads surrounding the venue, the use of public transportation is recommended.
