📅 Sat, Nov 7, 2026 - Sun, Nov 8, 2026
About this event
Held in Hoshino Village, Yame City, the Yame Hoshi Festival 2026 (Kyushu Wadaiko Festival) is an event put on by the entire village of Hoshino. Agricultural produce and handmade foods are sold at reasonable prices, making it particularly popular with visitors from both inside and outside the village. Since fiscal year 1989 (Heisei 1), a dynamic Japanese drum contest gathering famous wadaiko groups from all over Kyushu has been held as one of the main highlights. At the venue, hands-on experience booths such as a delicious tea brewing corner, woodworking workshops, and solar observation sessions will be set up, along with bazaar stalls serving fried chicken, yakisoba, teppanyaki, and salt-grilled landlocked salmon (yamame), as well as sales of the village's proud local specialties like green tea, shiitake mushrooms, and vegetables. On the second day, the Kyushu Wadaiko Festival will take place, providing a rare opportunity to see top-level taiko drumming teams from across Kyushu gather in one place.
