About this event
The 36th Nijo Red Rice Viewing Event will be held in the rice paddies of Nijo Yoshii, Itoshima City, where beautiful red rice paddy art reaches its peak viewing season. From Saturday, September 12 to Sunday, September 13, and Saturday, September 19 to Wednesday (national holiday), September 23, 2026, visitors can enjoy viewing the red rice daily from 13:00 to 18:00. During the event period, fun activities are prepared, such as a quiz rally touring the red rice paddies (with a prize drawing) and sample tasting and sales of red rice mochi cakes on September 12 only (limited to the first 100 people). In addition, stalks of red rice ears will be given as gifts. The venue is the rice paddies of Nijo Yoshii in Itoshima City, with free admission and no prior registration required, so anyone is welcome to visit. Even outside the official event period, the red rice scenery can be enjoyed from mid-September until around the autumnal equinox, with rice harvesting scheduled for early November. Why not take this opportunity to experience Itoshima's unique and beautiful red rice art along with local flavors? When visiting by car, please refrain from parking on the prefectural road so as not to obstruct traffic.
